Small Business & Economic Growth

Supporting small business and economic development is essential to the success of the Vacaville economy and must be a priority.

The city of Vacaville is located between the Bay Area and the Greater Sacramento Valley region. This allows Vacaville the opportunity to create an international hub for Bio & life science facilities and a strategic home for business to serve two major metropolitan centers simultaneously. Support for the development of the Biomanufacturing Center in Vacaville is estimated to bring $2 billion in industrial development, 3.5 million square feet of commercial real estate, and the addition of 10,000 jobs with a payroll of more than $1 billion a year.

This kind of growth requires keen detail and attention to our city resources - making sure to manage concerns about issues like water, sewer, waste, enough schools, and shopping facilities.

COVID-19 is having an enormous impact on our economy and specifically our small businesses. We need to continue to support #ShopLocal and work with business owners, Visit Vacaville, and Downtown Vacaville. As a Vacaville City Councilmember, I will do everything I can to help our small businesses recover and stay open.

I have seen our city’s economic recovery forecasts and plans. As a financial services expert for over 20 years, one thing I have learned in building financial growth and security is that “you can’t cut your way to prosperity”. We need to focus on creating sustainable revenue for our City by maintaining an environment where businesses can invest and thrive -where people want to live, shop and play. That means, among other things, that Public Safety needs to also be a priority in our community.

I will also ensure smart economic development while still providing an environment to allow small businesses to thrive as the heart of Vacaville.
